I’ve decided to make some changes recently. Starting with this Blog. This is my first official blog post on the new page so be sure to tell me what you think!
Inspired to Change

The Inspiration for change actually came from a book. I don’t know how I found the time to actually read but I did and it changed my mindset- for the better, I think. The book I read was entitled You Turn: Get Unstuck, Discover Your Direction, and Design Your Dream Career. It is a book about getting in touch with yourself and finding a career that aligns with who you are not just your passions. The idea is to find a job that doesn’t make you feel stuck and trapped and doesn’t make you happy. It is more than just a step-by-step guide to changing one’s career path it also tells the story of how the author developed this process through her own experiences.
Who Wrote the Book?

You Turn is by Ashley Stahl, a former Counterterrorism specialist turned Career Coach. To me, she sounds like an incredible woman. She was able to leave a job with the Pentagon and took the risk of starting her own business. Now she is a successful author, spokesperson, and career coach. Her book is so well written and relatable that I felt I was having a conversation with her with every page turn. Not only did she have the courage to leave a successful job to start a different career she was not afraid to share her failures. She shared how she lost everything and then decided to listen to herself and her own process to find success again on her own terms.
More Changes to Come
“Progress begins when we love ourselves enough to accept ourselves for who we truly are, what we truly are, what we actually want, and the person we aspire to become. Real progress is built on the ability to be honest with yourself, even when you know it’s going to hurt.”
Now that I have been inspired to become unstuck and change my professional life to line up more with who I am. I have given my current job in the Fast Food Industry notice. Hopefully, by the end of the month, my replacement will be found and I will no longer have the job that I first started working when I was 17 years old. I haven’t always worked there but i have always worked in some form of the same job. And when I returned home from my first attempt at college it was the first place I called. I never thought it would take three years to leave, but now is the time. I no longer feel stuck and hopeless. I now feel brave enough to untangle myself from the safety net that I trapped myself in for so long.
I have a few ideas as to what I’ll do to cover my bills but I want to see how they turn out before I share. But rest assured I will share both my failures and successes soon.
Do You Need a YOU Turn?
This is not a paid sponsorship for the book but I strongly encourage you to read You Turn or check out Ashley Stahl’s podcast or both! I want you to get inspired the way that I have. Figure out who you are and if your career aligns with that. And don’t be afraid to turn your fear into opportunity. Don’t let the risk of starting over prevent you from bettering yourself and your life. When you do read it be sure to tell me what you think. Was it as helpful to you as it has been to me? Did you confirm that you were already in the right career choice? I can’t wait to hear from you.
